What is your lending criteria?
Security is required for all loans. This may be property and/or vehicles, or if you do not have security yourself this can be supplied by a friend or relative who will also become a borrower on the loan referred to as a co-borrower.

How much can I borrow?
Avanti Finance Ltd finances loans from $1000 to $50,000 subject to acceptable security and affordability. We can do loans larger than this if short-term or interest only.

How long will the loan run?
This is up to you and based on how much you can comfortably manage each payment. Instalment frequency will be matched to your income being either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Our minimum acceptable weekly payment is $25. Our maximum loan term is five years on a loan with property security.

How long does it take to get an answer on my application?
In most circumstances you will have an answer within the same day. Please let us know if it is more urgent and we can prioritise your application.

Do you lend to beneficiaries?
Yes - providing they meet our lending criteria with regard to affordability and security provided.

Do you accept furniture as security?
No. There are companies who do. We require vehicle and/or property security.

Can I have a loan pre-approved before choosing a vehicle to purchase?
Yes. We will need you to provide us with identification proving your date of birth as well as proof of your income (e.g. a payslip or bank statement – no more than one month old). We will also ask you questions about your current income and expenses to determine the level of repayment you can afford. If we are able to approve a loan for you we will give you vehicle type guidelines and maximum price that you can go out to shop for.

Can I buy from an auction?
Yes – the process is the same as if you were buying from a dealer.

How do I make payments?
Our preference is for an automatic payment to be set up from your bank account. We will also accept a wages deduction to be set up with your employer. With both of these methods, we will ask you to sign the appropriate form at the time you sign your loan documents, and we will forward it for you to your bank or workplace.

What should I do if I cannot make a payment?
If you have established a good payment history with us, and you find yourself in difficulty with your payments please phone our credit department. We are more than happy to talk through this with you and work together to decide on a suitable payment arrangement. Make sure you explain why you are not able to make your payments because if you took out Loan Repayment insurance with your new loan, you may be able to claim against this for your payments to be covered.

Will you lend to me if I have bad credit?
As part of the assessment process we credit check all applicants. If you have any large payment defaults we will want to discuss with you the reasons why they occurred. Depending on what they are we may require proof you are paying them or we may require settling them as a condition of lending to you. We like to look at each application on an individual basis so please phone us and place an application. If your reasons are genuine we will look at finding a suitable solution for you.

What if I want to sell my security property?
Please discuss with us if you have any intention of selling or refinancing your property security. We may require that your loan contract be settled from the sale of the property or that you provide alternative security acceptable to us. We are often able to transfer our security to another property.

Can I sell my car that is used as security?
You can - but you must discuss this with us first. You will need to either settle the loan, or if you want to keep the loan running you will need to provide alternative security that meets or requirements. If you wish to sell your car to buy a new one, we can help you do that by considering an application from you to finance the new purchase. Phone our lending team today on Auckland 571 0720 or 0800 808 003.
